Blogmas Day 13: In honor of the Birth-Tay Girl

Happy Saturday! I'm coming at you for the first time in Blogmas history from my bedroom! That's right: not dorm room, but bedroom. I'm home! This is where I'll be spending the next month on winter break, and consequently where I'll be finishing Blogmas this year. But more importantly, today does not just mark my return home: it's my girl Taylor Swift's 25th birthday! So in honor of that, and all in honor of my tired eyes, we're gonna keep it a little on the brief side. Today I present to you a short list of 25 Reasons Why Taylor Swift is Great. Obviously I could go on, but I thought one reason for each year of her life was appropriate. Without further adieu:

1) She writes all her own songs. Always has and always will. Not only that, but she writes intelligent, thoughtful lyrics that can build you up and break you down.

2) She leaves the gym looking like she just stepped off a runway. By contrast, I leave the gym looking like I just got punched in the face while in the midst of a thunderstorm.

3) She makes it cool to be a grandma at heart.

4) She's spent this holiday season sending extravagant care packages to fans.

5) She's a feminist.

6) She values her friendships with strong women above romantic relationships, especially as of late.

7) She has a surprisingly good sense of humor.

8) She named her cats after her favorite female television characters.

9) Blank Space. Enough said.

10) She knows she's a terrible dancer, but she doesn't care if you don't like it.

11) She can somehow work those two-piece outfits that look ridiculous on most people.

12) She's still in touch with her high school best friend Abigail after all these years. In fact, she invited Abigail to her star-studded birthday party last night. Don't ask me how I know that.

13) Her Instragram kills it on the regular.

14) She believes in music as a valuable and worthwhile artform.

15) She cut her hair short even though she told herself it was something she'd never do. And, by the way, it looks great.

16) She's the only female in music history to have 3 albums debut at #1.

17) She's been the Billboard Woman of the Year multiple times.

18) 7. Time. Grammy. Winner.

19) She acknowledges her status as a role model and behaves as such.

20) She's apologized and been held accountable for her past mistakes, proving herself to be committed to bettering herself and learning about problematic behaviors. See below.

21) She finally decided to take the leap from country to pop, proving she can dominate at whatever she does.

22) She's an amazing live performer and gives every audience member what feels like a personal experience. Even when that audience fills an entire stadium.

23) She makes cookies for interviewers and reason, just 'cause.

24) Her "long list of ex-lovers" is not too hard to look at. Notably Jake Gyllenhaal and Harry Styles. I swear that girl has dated most of my celebrity crushes.

25) No one makes a "driving around town avoiding your problems while feeling dejected song" quite like Taylor. This I know from experience.

So in conclusion: Taylor Swift is an angel and we're lucky she's graced the Earth with her presence. And for those of you who don't like her:

"I never give advice unless someone asks me for it. One thing I've learned, and possibly the only advice I have to give, is to not be that person giving out unsolicited advice based on your own personal experience." -Taylor Swift (I mean duh. Who else would it be on today of all days?)
